How popular is this event? It's
growing every year. This year we had a two day total of over 150 kids and thanks to
our generous sponsors EVERY kid received a trophy (Along
with a great time!) Kids Field day has been featured in AMA publications, has
participation from ODF (Oregon Department of Forestry), Tillamook County Sheriffs
Department and been highlighted on OEPBS "Oregon Field Guide". Even Smokey
the Bear has been known to show up!!
Thanks to
our sponsors, and
those of you who have donated trophies, every kid gets a trophy and their are lots of
prizes given away each year.

Image Builders At The OHV Leader we like to
recognize club actives that improve the public image of the sport. Here's the latest:
If you saw a U.S. Forest Service truck roaring into your
riding area, with emergency lights flashing and sirens wailing, "positive image"
might be the last thing you'd think of. But that's how the guest of honor, Smoky Bear,
arrived at this years Kids Field Day sponsored by the
Trailsmen
Motorcycle Club of Aurora, OR.
The two-day event drew about 50 riders up to age 16 each
day to test their dirt bike and ATV skills. The kids, several as young as two, competed for
trophies, cash awards and a large variety of prizes.
We all know that kids represent the future of the OHV
recreation, but Trailsmen Secretary Bill Law reports that three and four-year-olds
comprised the largest group on the first day!
Five local dealers helped sponsor the event in addition to
a local ice cream shop and a popular fast food outlet. The Oregon Dept. of Forestry and
the Tillamook County Sheriffs Dept. also assisted in this very positive event.
